Indeed, you are correct, I should have said that the older 405-line and 819-line standards were retired. 625-line TV was inaugurated in the U.K. on UHF with 8 MHz spacing, but with 7 MHz overall width to stay compatible with the Western Europe I suppose. Also, I found that East Germany, while originally following the Soviet spec, moved to the Western "Gerber standard" sometime in the late 1950s or early 1960s.
